Located in the eastern part of Shenzhen, Yantian District is connected to Hong Kong

by sea and land, and is situated in the core area of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The district covers an area of 74.99 square kilometers with a population of approximately 300,000.

According to the accounting results of Shenzhen’s regional GDP, in the first half of 2023, Yantian District’s GDP was 41.07 billion yuan, showing a year-on-year increase of 7.1%. This represents a 0.6 percentage-point growth compared to the first quarter, indicating that the district’s economy is stable and improving.

A breakdown of the GDP figures reveals that the added value of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries was 25 million yuan, 6.86 billion yuan and 34.18 billion yuan. These figures reflect year-on-year increases of 40.5%, 5.5% and 7.3%.

Yantian Port serves as a global shipping and logistics hub, with nearly a hundred routes connecting it to the world.

It has three major ports: Shatoujiao, Yantian Port, and Meisha Tourist Port.

The Pingyan Railway connects Yantian Port, the Beijing-Kowloon Railway, and the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Railway, distributing goods across the country.

Hutchison Ports Yantian was honored with the Best Container Port in Asia (Over 4 Million TEUs) award. It is the second time Hutchison Ports Yantian has received this award in six years.

In recent years, Yantian District has vigorously implemented the strategies of “industrial revitalization” and “innovation-driven development.” Leveraging the unique mountain and sea resources and capitalizing on the advantages as a hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Yantian has steadfastly been improving and expanding traditional industries such as port logistics, gold and jewelry, tourism and healthcare, while actively promoting the integration of strategic emerging industries and future industries. These efforts lay the foundation and propel the transformation and upgrade of Yantian’s industrial structure, accelerating the high-quality development of the economy.

As a national model unit for afforestation and a pilot area for ecological civilization, Yantian enjoys the highest quality of ecological environment at the municipal, provincial, and national levels.

From 2013 to 2022, the annual average PM2.5 concentration in this area has decreased from 35.6 micrograms per cubic meter to 14.2 micrograms per cubic meter, surpassing the target set by the World Health Organization. Yantian has been recognized as a “Natural Oxygen Bar of China” and as an “Urban Ecological Oxygen Bar”.

The water quality in rivers, coastal areas, and drinking water sources remains 100% up to standard, ranking as the best in the city.
